Teaser trailer for Laika’s stop-motion zombie comedy film ParaNorman directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell. The voice cast includes Academy Award nominee Casey Affleck (The Killer Inside Me), Tempestt Bledsoe (“The Cosby Show”), Jeff Garlin (Toy Story 3), John Goodman (Red State), Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), Leslie Mann (Rio) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fright Night 3D).

A small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches, and worst of all, moronic grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

ParaNorman is set to open August 17, 2012 in North America.

Analysis: The old body swap trick has been a comedy staple for decades across films like both incarnations of “Freak Friday,” “Big,” “13 Going on 30,” “The Hot Chick” and “Dating the Enemy”. ‘Change-Up’ doesn’t sound like it will add anything new to the formula, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be an enjoyable spin on it right… right?

Helmed by David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers,” “Shanghai Knights”) and penned by the duo behind the likes of “The Hangover” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past”, the idea of a slacker Reynolds and workaholic Bateman switching minds should yield a few laughs. Yet nothing else about the story is particularly exciting be it the baseball-themed minor subplot to “Tron” scene stealer Olivia Wilde as a co-worker love interest. (Source)

The Blue Sky Studios’ 3-D digital animated film “Rio” centers on a nerdy macaw who leaves the comforts of his cage in small-town Minnesota and heads to Rio de Janeiro.
