Written by on November 9th, 2010

#24. Little Birds (Elgin James)

Having participated at both the Directors and Screenwriters Labs, helmer Elgin James has been building his nest at Sundance for a while now. His directorial feature debut Little Birds is a shoe-in title for the festival and should grab a slot in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section.

Starring Kay Panabaker and Juno Temple in the lead with a supporting cast of Kyle Gallner, Kate Bosworth and Leslie Mann, this is a semi-autobiographical drama from that is set amidst the stark landscape of the Salton Sea, and sees two 15-year-old girls (Temple and Panabaker) test the limits of their friendship when one follows the other in an escape to Los Angeles. There they discover that the boredom of home may be better than learning to survive in the big city. There they hook up with skaters and street kids.

Leslie Joins “The Change-Up” Cast
Written by on September 23rd, 2010

Director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) has been filling out his cast for the upcoming comedy, The Change-Up, having recently added actress Olivia Wilde (House) to the cast. EW reports Dobkin’s latest addition to the cast is Leslie Mann, who will bring with her some specific expertise for the upcoming comedy.

You could say “The Change-Up,” which follows Jason Bateman as a married man who switches bodies with his slacker buddy (Ryan Reynolds), was tailor-made for Mann — the actress starred in the most recent body-switching comedy, 2009′s 17 Again. While Mann’s role was not specified, Wilde was cast as Bateman’s work associate and the catalyst for the physical transformations, meaning that Mann may be playing Bateman’s wife.

The Change-Up, which goes into production this fall from a script by The Hangover screenwriters Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, is scheduled to open in August 2011. (Source)
